June Goals

If you saw my last goals post, you’ll know that I’ve been trying to start making myself accountable for the goals I set for myself. By posting them on my blog, I’m able to come back at the end of the month and discuss whether or not I accomplished them. So let’s jump right in to my goals for June!

YouTube Channel

1. Get up to 225 subscribers on my channel by creating more content that my target audience will want to see. I should also try to increase people’s awareness of my channel through posting things on Twitter as well as getting involved in beauty forums. I just discovered Beautylish.com so hopefully I can do something with that.

2. Film videos while in Traverse City with Alex and my sister.

3. Post a video at least every two days.

4. Update my channel design to the new YouTube layout (which I hate and am not looking forward to being forced to switch to).

5. Post more fashion and outfit videos

Personal Life

1. Write in my journal every day. I have yet to accomplish this and will really have to focus and remind myself.

2. Start the process of getting an apartment with Alex. So hunt for places, pick one, and get the paper work going before he leaves for Germany in July.

3. Spend the last hour or so every night away from technology. So write in my journal, read, take a bath, play with Tardis, etc.

4. Not stress to much about birthday plans and just enjoy the day.

5. Spend as much time with Alex as possible and try not to think about him leaving for two months.

Academic Life

1. Finish my two spring courses strong! Finals are at the end of June.

Work Life

1. Focus on updating the content for the website’s I’m in charge of. Try to get faculty and staff involved in deciding what our target audience is and what we’re trying to communicate to them.

2. Start planning a fall “orientation” event I came up with to get new students to the department interacting with faculty, current students, and alumni. I also want to use the event to get people more engaged in our social media.

What a busy month June will be.

A Misplaced Post: March 2013 Goals & Plans

I found this draft post amongst all my other posts and it turns out I never published it! Let’s see if I’ve accomplished any of the goals I made for myself in March!

I’ve been making plans and goals for myself for as long as I can remember, but I’ve decided that it’s much more productive to put them out in the open. That way, I’ll be more accountable and I can also review successes and failures at the end of the month. Writing them down also really helps to give them structure and cement what it is I actually want to accomplish. So here are my goals and plans for March 2013 separated into categories.

YouTube Channel

1. Get up to 75 subscribers on my channel by creating more content that my target audience will want to see. I should also try to increase people’s awareness of my channel…not sure how yet.

March turned out to be an amazing month for my YouTube channel. I had a video be accepted as a video response on a very popular beauty guru’s channel and my subscriber base took off. By the end of the month I had 170 subscribers.

2. Film Spring Break vlogs when I’m in Virginia with Alex.

I posted just one vlog about my Virginia trip with Alex. You can watch it here.

3. Film Chicago Weekend vlog/s.

We never ended up going to Chicago…and we still haven’t found the time to get out there!

4. Change my thumbnail photo and background photo to create a better “brand” from my channel.

Although I haven’t gotten a new thumbnail photo the brand for my channel is completely done and I absolutely love it!

Personal Life

1. Write in my journal every day to de-stress and get my thoughts out.

This was the hardest goal I set for myself. I think I wrote maybe half of the days of the month. Still, not bad!

2. Hunt for paid internships/jobs.

I found the position with the university during March and was working by the end of the month! Now I have the potential of having a full time position straight out of college!

Academic Life

1. Write at least the first chapter of my senior thesis. Or at least just start it.

Never even wrote the title page…

2. Double check that I can graduate in December. So make sure all the classes I still need to take are available and create a mock schedule to see that they all fit together.

I’ve since registered for all my classes and after a few scary moments of thinking I wasn’t actually going to graduate in December, everything is right on track.

Interview Anxieties

With the help of my Public Relations professor, I landed an interview with an Advertising Agency near my university. If things go well, I could get an internship directly related to what I’m studying and what I want to do with my life. This opportunity is huge, so of course I’m feeling the pressure. I really want the interview tomorrow to go well, but even attempting to prepare for it makes me worse off than when I just don’t think about it. Plus I have an online exam tomorrow morning right before the interview, so that’s weighing on my mind as well.

Big, big day tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
