365 Days of Photos: Day 82 (March 23, 2013)

As a “just because” gift Alex bought me these two from etsy.com. They’re vintage book pages with my favorite animal pressed onto them. I love them so much and they’re going to be the first things I put in my office!

Adventure: Mystery Date Envelope #1

For Christmas my lovely boyfriend Alex surprised me with ten envelopes all containing mystery dates. They were given to me with the rule that I can not know what’s inside of them until the day that I open them for the date.

I’ve carried them around with me constantly since I received them, but haven’t opened one until today. Being who I am, I opted to open the #1 envelope first instead of picking a random one from the stack.

Inside was this paper.

So to the movies we went! We saw Les Mis and it was absolutely incredible. Although the movie did start to feel long (and for good reason since it was almost a three hour movie), it was completely breathtaking. It was also really special because Alex was in a performance of Les Mis back in high school. I really enjoyed seeing his face when important moments happened in the film because I knew he was remembering all the experiences he’s had.

This date was amazing and I can’t wait to see what the other mystery envelopes have in store for us.

Why Getting a Tripod for My Graduation Gift is the Greatest Thing Ever

If you don’t have a camera or a video camera, then obviously a tripod is no where near the top of the want list, but for me, this graduation gift is the greatest thing that could have ever happened. I’ll share with you why:

1. I can now experiment with slower shutter speeds on my camera without the risk of body movement messing the photo up.

2. I can now experiment with night photography that was incredibly difficult without a tripod.

3. It’s now easier to make YouTube videos than my previous “camera on top of a stack of boxes” method.

4. Since I’m getting into the senior photography business, a tripod makes me seem that much more legit.

Needless to say I’m incredibly thrilled about this and my mind is already racing with photography ideas with my new, amazing tripod. Thanks mom and dad!
