Monday:  Every day when Tardis disappears I know I can find him in one of Alex’s small bins. He’s always in there sleeping.

Tuesday: Another day at work, another outfit. It’s always a fun game to try and fight the desire to dress plain. I always feel good when I pull an outfit together!

Kappa_Sigma_s_new_garden_

Tuesday: After work I went to Alex’s fraternity house and helped them plant a huge garden!

Diplo_Dash_5k_

Thursday: Today after work to of my friends and I ran yet another 5K race. Aimee (right) had messed up her foot during a marathon recently so she and I just walked. It brought me back to the days where I only walked races. It was amazing to see just how fast I used to be as I couldn’t get anywhere near my best walking time.

Making_art_outside

Friday: Today was my day off, so Alex and I bought some art supplies and spent the day outside.

A_little_something_to_get_me_even_more_excited_about_my_impending_birthday__

Monday: Over the weekend I went with Alex to his parents’ house about two hours away from where we live. His parents were sweet enough to get me this 21 charm for my Pandora bracelet in honor of my impending birthday. They’ve given me all my charms so far and I’m really looking forward to them slowly filling up my bracelet over the years.

Had_to_say_goodbye_to_Alex_s_family_s_foreign_exchange_student_Natalie_yesterday._I_ll_miss_that_beautiful_girl_

Tuesday: I had gone back home from Alex’s parents’ house on Monday night just to drive back the next day. Alex gave a speech at his old high school and he completely forgot about it until the day of. I decided to drive back to see him speak as well as to hang out with Natalie their foreign exchange student from the Ukraine. She went home this past Wednesday and I’m definitely going to miss her. To watch a video from today click here.

Wednesday: I’ve really been having a fantastic time creating new outfits and exploring my own closet. It’s easy for things to get lost or swept to the side, so it’s fun to go on an adventure and see what kind of out fit I can put together.

The_iPads_we_won_are_finally_here__

Thursday: Alex and I with two other friends entered a case study competition a few months ago. After a lot of work on Alex and my part to get the projects done and to make the videos, we ended up winning! Each one of us got our own iPad and they FINALLY came today!

Yes_or_no_

Thursday: Needless to say I went right out and bought myself a wonderful iPad case that I completely love. Alex and I spent the evening playing with our iPads and making them perfect.OOTD___ (1)

Friday: I usually don’t work on Fridays, but this week I had to make up for not working Memorial Day. Silly me forgot that Friday is casual dress day. Oh well! I really enjoyed this outfit!

What_a_very_intense_name_tag_at_this_content_strategy_conference

Monday: I attended a day and a half conference for social media and content strategy in higher education. The name tags were these huge bulky things that felt incredibly awkward to wear. It was fun getting to meet other people who do what I do and learn that no one knows what the hell their doing with social media. After the conference I started getting pretty emotional, and made a video that you can watch here.

Taco_Tuesday_at_Don_Pablo_s__

Tuesday: Alex loves Don Pablo’s and on Tuesdays they offer all you can eat tacos. So we stopped by his fraternity house on the way to the restaurant to see if anyone wanted to join us. We ended up gathering quite the party!

OOTD_

Thursday: The outfit I wore the day Alex and I suddenly realized it was a good weekend to move him out of where he was currently living. He leaves for Germany in a month and moving on now will save him $350. If you want to see a video about our moving adventure you can watch it here.

My_best_friend_and_my_biggest_supporter

Saturday: Alex and I spent the weekend at his parents’ house. We went out to dinner with family friends and took a photo together. I love this man so much. He’s my best friend and my biggest supporter in everything I do.

My Week in Review: May 6 – May 12

I’ve decided that, in the absence of the 365 photo project, I want to start these “My Week in Review” posts to keep you up to date on my weekly activities. I’m an Instagram junkie (find me @steggycornelius), so it’s the best place to go to find images of my week. So I’ve selected a few of the photos from last week to tell you about what happened.

OOTD (3)

Monday: Today was an average day of school and work. Most week days I find myself in business attire, which can get boring so I try and spice it up with planning cute outfits in advance.

Dinner_at_a_park

Tuesday: After a boring day of work inside I decided to get Panera and go to a local park for dinner. It was such a beautiful evening and I even got to write a bit in my journal.

Another_fun_disc_golf_outing

Tuesday: Not long after I finished my dinner Alex called me asking if I wanted to go play disc golf. Although we didn’t get to play much disc golf, we did get to see this beautiful site on the lake.

China_Glaze_s_Re-fresh_Mint

Thursday: I’ve become a nail polish addict! Today I wore China Glaze’s Re-Fresh Mint.

OOTD_for_my_art_showcase_

Friday: This was the outfit I wore to the reception for the student showcase. I took a lot of time and effort planning out what I wanted to wear because I was very proud and excited to have one of my photographs on display!

Saturday: I participated in my first Color Run! I love this photo with my best friend Lauren because the Before and After is just crazy! I vlogged on Saturday which you can watch here.

Trying_this_new_Flower_brand_nail_polish_from_Walmart_in_May_Flowers._Such_a_pretty_pink_

Saturday: After a long nap and a couple of showers I went to Walmart to pick up a few things. This new nail polish found its way into my cart. I’ve never heard of the brand “Flower” before. This is in the color “May Flowers.”

Sunday: I received an email from a bride who ordered ten of these bracelets from Alex and my etsy shop for her wedding. I thought I would never hear back from her, but she sent me a series of wedding photos with my bracelets in them! It was such an amazing thing to see something I made on a stranger during such an important event in a woman’s life.

Check back next week Monday for another “My Week in Review” post to see what I’ve been up to!

A Misplaced Post: March 2013 Goals & Plans

I found this draft post amongst all my other posts and it turns out I never published it! Let’s see if I’ve accomplished any of the goals I made for myself in March!

I’ve been making plans and goals for myself for as long as I can remember, but I’ve decided that it’s much more productive to put them out in the open. That way, I’ll be more accountable and I can also review successes and failures at the end of the month. Writing them down also really helps to give them structure and cement what it is I actually want to accomplish. So here are my goals and plans for March 2013 separated into categories.

YouTube Channel

1. Get up to 75 subscribers on my channel by creating more content that my target audience will want to see. I should also try to increase people’s awareness of my channel…not sure how yet.

March turned out to be an amazing month for my YouTube channel. I had a video be accepted as a video response on a very popular beauty guru’s channel and my subscriber base took off. By the end of the month I had 170 subscribers.

2. Film Spring Break vlogs when I’m in Virginia with Alex.

I posted just one vlog about my Virginia trip with Alex. You can watch it here.

3. Film Chicago Weekend vlog/s.

We never ended up going to Chicago…and we still haven’t found the time to get out there!

4. Change my thumbnail photo and background photo to create a better “brand” from my channel.

Although I haven’t gotten a new thumbnail photo the brand for my channel is completely done and I absolutely love it!

Personal Life

1. Write in my journal every day to de-stress and get my thoughts out.

This was the hardest goal I set for myself. I think I wrote maybe half of the days of the month. Still, not bad!

2. Hunt for paid internships/jobs.

I found the position with the university during March and was working by the end of the month! Now I have the potential of having a full time position straight out of college!

Academic Life

1. Write at least the first chapter of my senior thesis. Or at least just start it.

Never even wrote the title page…

2. Double check that I can graduate in December. So make sure all the classes I still need to take are available and create a mock schedule to see that they all fit together.

I’ve since registered for all my classes and after a few scary moments of thinking I wasn’t actually going to graduate in December, everything is right on track.

365 Days of Photos: Day 90 (March 31, 2013)

The video I made about my trip to Ann Arbor to see We The Kings got “liked” by a channel I follow on YouTube (top left thumbnail in the photo). The channel’s owner also plays bass for We The Kings. Because he liked my video, I’ve gotten a lot more views and even more subscribers! I’ve been a very happy girl!

Adventure: Spring Break 2013 in Lynchburg, Virginia

Until this year I’ve never been on Spring Break. I’ve never found myself in Florida with all the other Michigan college students fighting to share beach space or attempting to get a tan. And honestly I haven’t really ever had the desire to either. So when Alex brought up the idea of spending Spring Break at his brother’s house in Virginia, I was more than ready to say yes.

With two of his fraternity brothers piled in the backseat of Alex’s Honda, we began the 11 or so hour trip to Virginia Friday morning.

We got to his brother Erich’s house late Friday night. The next morning we woke up slowly and went to a winery. We tasted around thirty completely different wines ranging from ones made from apples and blueberries to others made with chili peppers.

After the tasting we got adventurous and decided to see how high we could climb the Peaks of Otter before it either got too cold or too dark. The incline was a lot steeper than expected, but we managed to get about a fourth of the way up to a beautiful advantage point.

The next day we got even more outgoing. With Erich’s hummer we met up with a few of his friends and their jeeps to do some very intense off-roading. I never expected to have as much fun as I did, but it was crazy to see some of the rocks these vehicles climbed over.

IMG_2036 IMG_2056

The rest of the evening was spent watching movies and hanging out at the house. Monday we were back at it. We went to Erich’s new property where he’s building his new house. The builders had recently cleared the land where his house was going to be, so we burned some of the wood in a bonfire and ate hotdogs and s’mores.

IMG_2069

Erich’s property was absolutely beautiful. Surrounded almost completely by forest, there were so many places to explore. With SLR camera in tow, Alex and I explored along a little creek for a while and took awesome photos.

With an impending storm threatening to make driving home in a few days a complete disaster, we decided to head home early the next morning. Nothing is worse than trying to drive steep mountain roads covered in ice. We packed ourselves up and stuffed ourselves back into the car. We stopped a few times along the way to take some scenery photos of Virginia and for Alex and I to start a project where we take photos with the welcome signs in every state we visit.

Unfortunately we couldn’t avoid the snowstorm completely. It caught up to us in Ohio after hours of rain. Alex was a trooper getting us through some of the worst weather I’ve seen in a while. We got home around midnight and quickly snuggled up in bed after such a long, stressful day.

IMG_2102

The trip was better than anything I could have imagined. I got to do things I’ve never done before in such a beautiful place.

365 Days of Photos: Day 66 (March 7, 2013)

66 - March 7

Alex I went to a small pub tucked in an alley of Flint. They have some seriously good burgers. It got us thinking about starting a food blog exploring the many eateries we plan on going to when we move out of Michigan. He loves all food and I’m pickier than most, so it would prove to be an interesting blog! Do you think we should start it?
